The Disarmament and International Security Committee, Recalling past UN General Assembly’s resolutions 53/70 of 4 December 1998, 54/49 of 1 December 1999, 55/28 of 20 November 2000, 56/19 of 29 November 2001, 57/53 of 22 November 2002, 58/32 of 8 December 2003, 59/61 of 3 December 2004, 60/45 of 8 December 2005, 61/54 of 6 December 2006 and 62/17 of 5 December 2007, Noting that the last 10 years there have been made huge developments in the field of information and telecommunications technologies (ICT), Taking into consideration that states, economies and citizens are becoming even more reliant on Networking Information Systems (NIS), which makes them being more vulnerable to electronic attacks, Considering that, it is necessary to prevent the use of information resources or technologies for criminal or terrorist purposes, Affirms that the information infrastructure on which all stated are relying on for civil, economic, and military purposes are becoming more and more vulnerable to electronic attacks; 1. Encourages the development of a trustworthy Network Information Systems (NIS) and the development of technologies and policies to ensure a secure environment for the growth of global information infrastructure, 2. Calls Upon all members to promote further possible measures to limit the threats emerging in the field of information security, consistent with the need to preserve the free flow of information; 3. Recommends The development of a trustworthy Network Information Systems (NIS) and the development of technologies and policies to ensure a secure environment for the growth of global information infrastructure (GII); 4. Expresses its hope that there is going to be a good dialogue and co-operation between states in the context of promoting more trustworthy systems and in securing their information infrastructures against vandalism, crime and terrorism which need to be improved.
